TNPSC orders to increase age limit for group 1A, 1B exams
Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has on Thursday issued orders to increase the age limit for the candidates attending competitive exams under group-1 category.

The upper limit has been increased from 35 years to 37 years for SC, ST, MBC, BC and DNC categories and from 30 years to 32 years for general categories. The increase in age limit will be applicable only for group-1A and group-1B exams. However, there was no change in the minimum age, which remains fixed at 20 years.
The age limit is applicable for candidates who apply for the position of Deputy Collector in the Revenue Department and Deputy Superintendent of Police under the Tamil Nadu Civil Services. Similarly, the increase in age limit will also cover the Assistant Commissioner’s post in Commercial Taxes Department, District Registrar’s in the Registration Department, Assistant Director’s post in Rural Development department, Deputy Registrar of Co-Operative Societies, District Employment Officer in Employment and Training Department and District Fire Officer in Fire and Rescue Services.
The age limit was also increased for candidates who seek the post of the Assistant Commissioner in the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department.
The group-1 category examination is conducted by OMR method, which is objective in nature (questions with multiple choice answers). The answers will be evaluated using computers and the marks of all candidates will be published on the TNPSC website.
During the Budget session, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami had issued a statement that he had received a lot of request from the people to increase the age limit for the group-1 category exams conducted by the TNPSC.
