Seeman met the villagers at Koombankadu village to know their views on the state government acquiring their land for the proposed 10,000 crore expressway. He was recently arrested for instigating people in Omalur against land acquisition for the expansion of airport.
The Omalur Judicial Magistrate Court had granted him conditional bail by directing him to sign daily at the Omalur police station. Meanwhile, the NTK leader visited Koombankadu village in Parapatti panchayat on Wednesday and spoke against the green corridor project.
On information, Mallur police rushed to the spot and arrested 11 members of the NTK including Seeman and two women cadre for visiting the village without permission and for violating the bail conditions.
His arrest sparked tension as the villagers opposed the police action. The angry villagers gheraoed the police personnel demanding that they should be arrested first, before they take away Seeman. When Seeman was forced into the van, the villagers blocked the vehicle.
Seeman told newspersons that the police were arresting him without providing a valid reason.
The police had earlier arrested student activist Valarmathi, environmentalist Piyush Manush and actor Mansoor Ali Khan for speaking against the state government projects.
