Kamal announces new executive committee to oversee party works
At the first official flag hoisting ceremony of Makkal Needhi Maiam, Kamal Haasan stated that his party will never function based on the orders of a sole leader, but as an organisation.
Chennai
The actor-turned-politician hoisted the party flag at MNM’s headquarters in Alwarpet and announced a rejig in the core management of the party, after their registration with the Election Commission of India. Now, the high-level committee comprising 16 members has been dissolved and an executive council has been formed with the same set of people.
Furthermore, Ku Gnana Sambandham was announced as the vice president of the party, A. Arunachalam as the secretary and Suresh as the treasurer of the party. “The core committee that was formed on an ad-hoc basis prior to the registration is hereby dissolved. It is important to recognise, highlight and encourage those individuals who contributed immensely as core committee members for the development and growth of the party.
Accordingly, the following members who played an active role in the core committee shall continue to direct the party as its Executive Committee members henceforth – actor Sri Priya, Kameela Nazar, retired IPS officer SG Mourya, CK Kumaravel, S Moorthy, R Rangarajan, Souri Rajan, R Thangavel and writer Bharathi Krishnakumar,” stated the 63-year-old. Kamal also announced various district functionaries, with the party providing a list of office-bearers divided into East, West, North and South Zones, after which he held a closed-door meeting with them.
Apparently, the team is all set to make sure that MNM is ready to contest in the local body polls or the Assembly elections. Membership drives are also well underway across Tamil Nadu to rope in people – well before Kamal Haasan’s friend and political contemporary Rajinikanth launches his outfit.
Apologises for traffic jam
Kamal Haasan after hoisting the party flag in his Eldams Road office apologised for causing traffic jam in the busy intersection at Alwarpet on Thursday. The MNM function caused a standstill and problems to other members of the public crossing the area in the morning. He assured that no such incident would happen during his party meetings under his watch in the future.
