“Corruption in Tamil Nadu means what? It means corruption in government,” he said speaking in Tiruvannamalai.

“If the BJP had not supported the government, Shah need not speak about corruption. Everyone knows who is propping up the government and under whose protection it is running. It is a government without people’s trust,” he said.

Dhinakaran said then Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, instead of ordering floor test came down to unite CM Edappadi K Palaniswami and OPS.

Stating that the Assembly will go for polls with the Lok Sabha, he claimed that hisparty would win 25 LS seats. He took a dig at BJP leader H Raja by stating that he may be made ‘urine irrigation minister’ if the BJP comes to power in the state.

Andipatti MLA apologises to AG in contempt case

Disqualified AIADMK MLA Thangatamizhselvan owing allegiance to TTV Dhinakaran appeared before the Advocate General (AG) Vijay Narayan of the Madras High Court on Tuesday and tendered an unconditional apology for his scandalous remarks against Chief Justice Indira Banerjee regarding the split verdict that had transpired in the 18 MLAs disqualification case.

However, after the Advocate General made it known to the disqualified MLA that he does have powers to accept the apology and only the court can, he sought at least another six weeks to file his counter.

A woman lawyer Srimathi had accused Thangatamizhselvan of making scandalous remarks against Chief Justice in an interview on June 23 and 24 to a television channel.

He had allegedly accused the judiciary of having delivered a verdict that would help the ruling party to continue in power. He had also reportedly claimed that the judgment in the disqualification case has been purchased. She wanted to initiate contempt of court proceedings against him.

As per procedures, the AG had issued a show cause notice to Thangatamizhselvan as per Section 15 of the Contempt of Courts Act, seeking explanation as to why consent should not be granted to initiate criminal contempt of court proceedings against him for having made “scurrilous and derogatory” remarks against the Chief Justice.
