Tatkal power connection to farmers
Electricity Minister P Thangamani on Wednesday announced that powers connections for farmers would be given through tatkal scheme and asked the farmers to make use of the new facility.

Replying to a question from a MLA, the minister said a GO had been issued to give power connections to farmers through tatkal scheme and it had come into force from July 1.
The government is also ready to provide power connections to temples in government lands but the court had issued a stay to such a measure, Thangamani said.
He assured that he would discuss the issue with Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and take necessary steps.
For villages in mountainous regions, solar lamps are being distributed. When such villages had roads, electricity could be taken though cables by erecting light posts, the minister said.
Thangamani also said the government is ready to help generate power from garbage if private companies came forward to carry out the project.
Tangedco is ready to procure power generated by such companies from garbage, he assured.
The minister was responding to a question on whether the government would assist the Salem Corporation to generate power from garbage.
