40 students allotted seats on Day 1 of MBBS/BDS counselling
On day one of the MBBS/ BDS counselling, a total of 101 candidates were called in under the Physically Handicapped, Ex Servicemen and Sports categories at the Government Multi Super Speciality Hospital at Omandurar Estate on Sunday, of which 40 seats have been allotted.

The first day of the first phase of counselling saw the participation of 63 students, with 38 seats being allotted to students in Government Medical Colleges and two in Government Dental Colleges.
“We had called 28 Physically Handicapped students, 60 students under the Ex Servicemen quota and 15 under the Sports quota for counselling on Day-I to fill 122, 11 and seven seats respectively,” said Dr G Selvaraj, Secretary, Selection Committee. The remaining seats will be converted to the general category, he added.
While it was initially announced that the state has a total of 3,393 colleges across all government medical colleges, the number of seats has been increased to 3,501, with Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan College having recently received recognition. The number of dental seats now available is 1,208.
Counselling for students under the general category, will begin on Monday. The first phase of the counselling is to continue until July 10, said Dr Selvaraj. 40 students allotted.
