Manoj Sinha inspects, Madurai Tiruchendur track
Union Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha conducted a window trailing inspection from Tiruchendur to Madurai on Friday. The inspection was held to assess the broad gauge track condition, its riding quality and also to assess performance of technical aspects and signals, sources said. Madurai Divisional Railway Manager Neenu Ittyerah accompanied the Minister.

Earlier, Sinha along with Union Minister of State for Shipping and Transport Pon Radhakrishnan offered prayers at Sri Subrahmanya Swami Temple in Tiruchendur, sources said.
Meanwhile, M Piramanayagam, secretary, Thoothukudi District Passengers Welfare Association submitted a memorandum to the Minister demanding change in timings of departure and arrival of express trains. The journey time of Thoothukudi –Mysuru Express could be reduced and it should be ensured that it reached Thoothukudi at 9.30 am instead of 11.15 am.
Catering to growing needs of passengers, he suggested that the Thoothukudi- Mysuru –Thoothukudi Express trains (16235 / 16236) should depart from Thoothukudi at 5.50 pm and in return direction, it should reach Thoothukudi before 9.30 am. Moreover, the association had also sought the introduction of Thoothukudi to Kollam inter-city train service. The much awaited train could open up new opportunities to boost tourism sector as passengers would have access to tourism hotspots such as water falls in Courtallam and Papanasam and places of religious worship in Tenkasi and Shencotta, he said.
