Abducted Salem trader rescued in a few hours
A trader abducted by a gang for a ransom of Rs 5 lakh in Salem district on Friday.

Police traced the trader Murthy (52) by tracking his mobile tower signal.
Police said he was on his morning walk when a some men in a car forced Murthy into the vehicle and sped away.
Public, who noticed the incident, alerted his brother Eswaran. “When Eswaran called Murthy, he told him he will be back soon. Soon, his cellphone was switched off.
Later, he received a call from a person, who claimed to have kidnapped his brother,” police said. The kidnapper demanded Rs 5 lakh to free Murthy and ended the call.
The Ammapet police asked Eswaran to reach Panamarathupatty ‘pirivu’ road with the cash. Meanwhile, police traced the abductors with the help of the mobile tower. They suspect that Murthy was kidnapped by the gang over financial issues.
