Makkal Needhi Maiam, the party founded by Kamal, raised questions for the Department of Information and Public relations and Department of Tourism, Art and Culture for the session to be held on Monday.

The party stated that the questions that are being raised were based on extensive internal research and inputs received from its members through the organ’s whistle blower app, Maiam Whistle.

The issues brought up include whether the government is considering constituting a welfare board for journalists and measures to ensure that journalists do not come under undue attacks. The party also raised concerns on allocation of houses for journalists and eradication of difficulties in securing pension and other dues.

The Makkal Needhi Maiam also pointed out that the proceedings of the Parliament are telecast live but the public has no access to the proceedings of the Tamil Nadu Assembly as it is not televised.

The party also requested a clarification from the government on the meagre allocation made to tourism department and whether the current allocation of 0.001 per cent will be increased and if there were any strategies that the government would implement to increase the number of tourists visiting the state.
