DMK working president MK Stalin said here on Friday that except Tamil Nadu, the Chief Ministers of all other states are keen on doing something good to their respective states but here, the government gives all kinds of torture to the people on the directions from the Centre. He also predicted an early election to the state Assembly and stressed that the DMK will come to power and save the people from the present scenario.
Speaking at a function here, Stalin said, those who are in the government never bother about the people and their lives. The state government has been functioning as a slave to the Centre which does not care about the people of Tamil Nadu. This resulted in NEET exam that prevented the children from Tamil Nadu becoming doctors.
Meanwhile, he condemned Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, who visited the Srirangam temple a day before amusing charge as CM and assured to maintain a brotherly relationship with Tamil Nadu, for not keeping his words. “He (Kumaraswamy) wants to discuss the issue in Parliament even after the verdict and this is just to divert the Cauvery issue. He needs the grace of God from the Tamil Nadu temple but never thinks of the livelihood of the people of the state,” he charged.
Stating that the Chief Ministers of all other states want to do something good to the people of their respective states, Stalin charged that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister does not want to do anything good to the people but make them suffer. “In order to end all these, there will be an early election soon and a good government for the people will be formed in the state and also a secular government will be formed at the Centre that would be committed to do good to the people,” Stalin stressed.
Prisoner’s murder proof of deteriorating L&O in state’
Two days after a Goondas detenu was murdered in Puzhal prison, DMK working president MK Stalin questioned the government about deteriorating law and order situation.
Addressing reporters at Chennai airport on Friday, he said, “The murder in the prison itself is giving an insight as to how the law and order is in the state and people are well aware of this.”
On Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan’s comment that terror outfits are intruding in the state, Stalin said, “Today he is saying so and let us wait and see what he will say tomorrow.”
Later, in a statement on Friday, the Leader of the Opposition hit out at Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami for bypassing all the norms, including ecological impacts to execute the Chennai-Salem Greenfield Expressway. “Even after a lot of farmers have been protesting from districts like Kancheepuram, Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri and Salem, the government is ignoring everything and going ahead with its plan and lands are regularly measured for these projects,”
Stalin said, adding that the eight-lane road project will cost eight thousands of acres. Stating that around five-hundred acres of forest lands will be destructed and eight hills need to be razed, the DMK leader questioned, “Why the Chief Minister is showing profound interest in this project despite several protests across the state.” At a time when the state is grappling with shortage of water resources, such expensive project will prove to be a detrimental factor for water bodies, he said, adding that the DMK will hold demonstration on June 23 in Salem.
