Students appearing for SSC exams to get free coaching
Scaling up the free training for nationwide competitive exams given to students, who cannot afford private coaching, the State government has decided to conduct free classes for those appearing for the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) examinations, scheduled in August.

The Madras University has joined hands with the Labour Department to provide free and full-time coaching. The date of commencement for the coaching is yet to be announced.
Stating that the classes will be held at Madras University, a senior Labour department official said, “Training will be imparted in a systematic manner in line with the latest examination pattern.”
He said since the syllabus covered a lot of topics, it was important for the candidates to make use of the coaching classes and practise a wide range of questions.
Students, who would be trained by experts, would also be taught to finish the exam within the stipulated time. Various subjects, including Indian history, science and current affairs, would be covered during the training sessions, the official added.
Candidates, who will be writing the exam, have been asked to register themselves either at Madras University or the Labour department complex in Santhome.
The exams for SSC Combined Graduate Level (tier 1), which selects candidates for various Group B and C posts of the Central government, is scheduled to be held in August. More than 50,000 candidates from TN are expected to appear for the examination.
The exam will be held in four stages or tiers. While the first two tiers require candidates to appear for the exam online, the next two is offline mode, where candidates will have to write the exam at an allotted centre. Candidates must pass each stage to proceed to the next one, before being finally selected.
