DVK files plaint against actor Kasthuri
Members of Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam (DVK) on Saturday demanded the Madurai City Police to take criminal action against actress Kasthuri for her derogatory comments against the transgender community.
Madurai
Recently, Kasthuri in one of her tweets had criticised the split verdict of Madras High Court in the 18 MLAs suspension case and in the tweet she had posted a derogatory picture of transgenders along with a comment against the community. The tweet was strongly criticised by people of various sections and social activists following which she had removed the tweet.
However, on Saturday DVK cadres filed a complaint with the Madurai City Police Commissioner demanding criminal action against Kasthuri for her derogatory comments on transgenders. Mani Amuthan, district secretary, DVK, said that only now transgenders started to lead a decent life as the society started giving them the due respect they deserved but now Kasturi through her tweet had thrown a bad light on the entire community. She had also insulted the sentiments of the entire transgender community and so she should be booked.
