Protests against projects can hamper TN’s progress: Ponnar

Speaking to reporters, the Union Minister, who lauded the Chief Minister for giving the nod for the Green Corridor Expressway, said, the other states especially, Andhra Pradesh, have been demanding new road projects but in Tamil Nadu, the new developmental projects, including the road projects have been opposed. 

“This is just because, the political parties and some organisations have been spreading wrong information about these Central projects among the people. There are several people spreading rumours and the government should overcome these. Otherwise, no people welfare projects will take off in the state,” the Minister said. 

Wishing that the works of East Coast Road should be expedited, he claimed that state is not ready to accept the project. He also appealed for the support of the state to the Colachel port project. Meanwhile, the Union Minister ridiculed DMK working president MK Stalin that he has been acting like a student bunking classes. 

“Stalin can go to Karnataka and ask for water from them as the government is formed with their friendly parties,” he added. Later, the Minister visited the family of NEET aspirant Kasthuri Mahalingam whose father Krishnamurthy died in Kochi and presented Rs 1 lakh.
