Customs refunds Rs 200 crore of IGST in Tiruchy

Routray said a special drive was organised from May 31 to June 14 and almost 80 per cent of the online-submitted documents were error-free.
“We have already cleared Rs 143.86 crore as IGST refunds and 34.41 crores as Remission of State Levies (RoSL). In other words, our department has cleared nearly Rs 200 crore as GST refund in the last 10 days,” he added.
Officials said that applicants were being guided in filing the applications without errors, admitting that the new online taxation system has created difficulties for taxpayers.
Routray also assured that courier operations at Tiruchy International Airport would be started by July.
The top brass refused to share details of the CBI inquiry into the missing 30 kg gold from the Custom’s vault here in 2015. “The CBI is probing the matter and some officials have been suspended,” he said.
