Higher Education Minister K Anbalagan said the 10-digit random number generated by the computer would be used for preparing the inter-semerit where more than one candidate has got the same mark. According to him, the inter-se merit among such candidates would be determined in order of priority, such as percentage of marks in Mathematics, Physics, percentage of mark in the fourth optional subject, date of birth (elder candidates would be given preference) and random number (higher value would be given preference).
The rank list is expected to be published next week by the university. A week would be reserved for addressing applicants’ grievances after the publication of the merit list.
A total of 1,59,631 candidates have registered for getting admission to engineering seats in the state. A total of 2,249 candidates have registered for vocational courses.
The minister said of the total applications received by the TNEA, 98,115 were boys and 59,299 were girls. Under the special categories, 7,004 are from sports category, 320 are from differently-abled category, and 2,171 are wards of ex-servicemen. The number of first generation graduates who have registered were 83,727, and 16,870 were post matric candidates.Â
