Kamal Haasan to discuss Cauvery issue with HD Kumaraswamy today
Kamal Haasan is expected to discuss the Cauvery water sharing issue between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka when he meets the newly elected Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy in Bengaluru on Monday.

Meanwhile, he has also posed a series of questions to the state Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry departments in the backdrop of the ongoing session of the state assembly.
Kamal has been vocal in calling for dialogue between the states and was present at the swearing-in ceremony of Kumaraswamy in Bengaluru on May 23.
The questions to the animal husbandry department pertain to the many vacant positions of veterinary physicians in the state and the reasons for not conducting exams for the position of veterinary assistants since 2011.
Makkal Needhi Maiam also questioned if free dairy cow scheme’s outlay could be reduced by procuring cows from within the state and not import from other states.
The dairy department has been asked about the difficulties faced by milk producers while cow feed prices keep going up, but the price of milk being stagnant. The party also raised the issue of Aavin, the state cooperative, being unable to increase the quantum of its sale. The party also requested the formation of a welfare board for those in the dairy sector.
The fisheries department saw questions on the aftermath of the Ockhi cyclone and its impact in terms of the casualties, missing fishermen and damage caused and relief distributed. Details of proposed relief measures to the fishermen during the fishing ban period were also sought. The party had earlier released a set of questions to the education department, energy, excise and environment and forests departments. The party said that the questions were of importance to the general public and were collated based on internal research and concerns raised by its members through its official whistleblower app, Maiam Whistle.
