Remand prisoner stages protest
Tension prevailed in the Central prison here after a remand prisoner staged a sit-in protest in the jailer’s office demanding his safety from two prison staff who were transferred allegedly after he complained against them for helping a notorious anti-social.

The prisoner Kolanjinathan from Ariyalur lodged a complaint against two prison staff — Pechimuthu and Kannan in 2017 — with the prison authorities for helping notorious rowdy Ennore Dhanasekar.
Subsequently, both the staff were warned by their higher officials.
Meanwhile, the duo was transferred to the Palayamkottai prison. Following this, they reportedly threatened Kolanjinathan with dire consequences before leaving the prison here.
