Relief for Nithyananda in Madurai Adheenam case

After Nithyananda proclaimed himself as junior Adheenam, Jegathalapradhapan of Madurai, filed a petition stating that Madurai Adheenam was 2,500 years old and Arunagirinadhar was serving as its 292nd head for the past 25 years. Meanwhile, Nithyananda forged documents and proclaimed himself as its head.

A case was filed at the High Court against the announcement and the state government too informed the court he was not eligible for the post. The court ruled against him restraining him from entering the Adheenam premises. However, he with an ulterior motive, had filed a petition at the High Court Bench to provide police protection to enter it.

To avoid any unnecessary problems, the court must not grant him and his followers permission to enter the Adheenam premises and deal with its activities, the petitioner had prayed. Accepting the arguments, Justice R Mahadevan issued an order restraining him from entering the Adheenam. However, he challenged the order stating he should be allowed to enter as a devotee.

On Wednesday, a two-judge bench, comprising Justices Muralidharan and Krishnavalli, stayed the order and granted permission to Nithyananda to enter the adheenam as a devotee. The bench also ordered notice to HR&CE department and Madurai Adheenam to file their counter by June 18.
