Passenger stones bus as driver refuses to go via Vaniyambadi town
Irked at the refusal of a government bus driver not taking the service lane and instead stopping on the bypass road in Vaniyambadi, a passenger damaged the windshield of the vehicle during the early hours on Wednesday.
Chennai
The passenger, who damaged the vehicle, had boarded the Bengaluru-bound bus at Pallikonda, about 20 km from Vellore.
When the passenger sought a ticket for Vaniyambadi, the conductor, Kalyanasundaram, told him that the vehicle would not go into the town but would proceed via bypass road. Subsequently, when the bus stopped on the bypass road for the passengers to alight, the man demanded that the bus go through the service road. But, driver Loganathan rejected his demand.
Angered at this, the passenger ran to the front of the bus and threw a stone and broke the windshield, before fleeing the spot.
Later the remaining passengers were shifted to another bus. Loganathan then drove the vehicle to the Vaniyambadi police station and lodged a complaint. The cops are searching for the man who damaged the bus.
