Chennai
Rajinikanth will leave for Thoothukudi around 8 am on Wednesday. He will meet the families of the deceased to offer condolences. He is set to visit the hospital where those who suffered injuries are being treated.Â
This is Rajinikanth’s first visit to Thoothukudi since the protests against Sterlite copper smelting plant began over a hundred days ago. He had offered messages of support to the people and condemned the actions of the government on his twitter page.Â
The superstar had also welcomed the government’s decision to shut the Sterlite plant following the protests. He said that the closure of the plant is an act dedicated to those who died fighting for its removal from Thoothukudi. He added that he hoped that any future protests that results in the loss of lives of the innocent must not take place.
