Four killed, 21 injured as bus falls into gorge in Nilgris

According to the police, the tourists, all residents of Bangalore, were returning after a trip to Ooty when the accident occurred around 10 pm on Saturday. The bus driver attempted to overtake another tourist van at a blind curve and lost control of the vehicle. The bus went off the road and toppled down the gorge for about 30 feet. Locals rushed to the rescue of the passengers.

The police and fire service personnel reached the spot and started the rescue operations promptly. Police identified three of the four individuals who lost their lives as Ganesan, Ravikumar and Nayak. The bodies have been sent for post mortem at Gudalur Government Hospital. Those who were injured have been admitted to different hospitals for treatment. The Gudalur police have registered a case and further investigations are still on.
