The video in Tamil — Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) cut off search — explains how to calculate cut-off marks. It explains that the students can calculate the cut-off mark by dividing the marks of Physics and Chemistry by four each and Mathematics by two. Then the available three figures should be added to get the cut-off mark.

To calculate the mark for other boards, one has to multiply obtained marks in Physics and Chemistry by 50 each and divide the figures by the maximum marks of the respective subject. Similarly, obtained marks in Mathematics should be multiplied by hundred and then divided by its maximum marks. Those three figures should be added together to obtain the cut-off mark.

The brief video explains the process clearly, making it easy for students to compare their score to the cut-off limit.

Once students identify the score, they can find colleges and courses suitable for them according to the cut-off limit with the help of the list provided on the website.

The branches of engineering are classified district and college-wise. Students can choose their community and search for their preferred district, college and course. The website will show the cut-off limit for the course and makes it easier for students to decide.

TNEA sources told DT Next that several hundred students have watched the video on the first day of its launch. Before the advent of the video, candidates had to approach either the university or students’ facilitation centres to calculate cut-off marks, which was a tedious process.

The video is available for public at the link https://info.tnea.ac.in/tinfo/index.php
