Dhinakaran, in a large cavalcade of vehicles, reached Thoothukudi and first went to the house of the deceased where he gave Rs. 3 lakhs each to their families. Following that Dhinakaran reached Thoothukudi GH where he met the injured protestors in the hospital.

He met them individually, heard their grievances patiently. Later he met media persons outside the ward and said that during the interaction, he came to know that people were lathi-charged mercilessly.

“The protesters were treated in a barbaric manner. By opening firing, Thoothukudi Collector and SP made a huge mistake and just transferring them is not sufficient. Stringent action should be taken on the officials,” said Dhinakaran.

He also said that Palaniswami is responsible for the firing and he should resign for the incident. When asked how CM is responsible, TTV replied that the Chief Minister is in-charge of State Home Department and the shooting happened with the prior approval of CM.

“If Palaniswami is a true CM he should have met the people of Thoothukudi by now. Palaniswami had claimed that anti-social elements had entered the protest but what was the Intelligence Department doing for the last 99 days. Therefore, it is a collective failure of Intelligence division and the government. “

"The government claims that they are governing the state on Amma's (Jayalalithaa's) principles but they are actually misusing her name. The government should be toppled, and Vedanta Sterlite should be closed permanently," said Dhinakaran.
