    Vaiko opposes new grading for civil services

    Opposing the grading of UPSC winners through a training course, MDMK general secretary Vaiko on Monday said it was an attempt to saffronise the civil services in the country.

    He said such a move would destroy the federal principles of the country and appealed to all the states to strongly oppose the proposed changes in the UPSC selection. The changes are an attempt to appoint the candidates of BJP’s choice in central administration, he said and added that the move is an attempt to saffronise the civil services.

    Till now, the UPSC candidates need to write the examinations and attend an interview. The new selection system would be unjust and partial since the allocation of the services would depend on the marks given at the training course.

    Vaiko said the new system is a conspiracy to block the entry of youth belonging to the backward and SC communities into the civil services. Many rural students are writing the civil service examinations in their mother tongue and getting selected.

    During the last four years in office the BJP government had destroyed the honour of democracy. Even the Supreme Court judges had warned that India is slowly going into hands of a Fascist regime.
