Speaking to reporters, while participating in a marriage function of a party functionary in Salem district on Sunday, the AMMK’s deputy general secretary said that Dhivakaran had joined hands with betrayers in an apparent reference to the ruling AIADMK government.

He also denied reports of having any property issues with Dhivakaran. “I don’t have any property issues with my former uncle,” he said.

On the Karnataka elections, the AMMK leader said that the court by its judgment has saved democracy.

“The court has delivered a right verdict when confusion ruled as to who should form the government in Karnataka. The Governor should have first asked BS Yeddyurappa to prove his majority instead of swearing him as Chief Minister,” he said.

Further, Dhinakaran expressed hope of getting a favourable verdict in the disqualification of the 18 MLAs case. “We have clearly made our point in the court that only the general secretary is vested with all powers in the party. A general secretary can be chosen only with majority of legislators. Almost 90 per cent of cadres are in our support and other party functionaries will return to our fold soon,” he said.

He also said that the green corridor project would affect farmers.
