BJP can’t win in 2019: Vaiko

MDMK leader Vaiko said that ruling BJP’s aspiration to get another term at the Centre would remain a pipe dream with its first blow being Karnataka Assembly elections.

“BJP leader and former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa had scripted history by being chief minister for 56 hours,” Vaiko said.

To a query, Vaiko replied, “Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala’s action is wrongful.

Supreme Court last year has laid out terms as who should be called in terms of numbers and it permits a post-poll alliance to form a legitimate government. Everyone is clear that the numbers were with the Congress and JD(S) and not the BJP. However, the Governor, a two-time cabinet colleague of (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi’s in Gujarat, inviting Yeddyurappa to form government and giving him 15-days-time was to encourage horse-trading, which was effectively stopped by the intervention of the apex court.” Noting that there were claims of the BJP making inroads, the MDMK leader said the party cannot come back to power. Addressing Modi, Vaiko said, “Whatever your efforts are. And that of your all-powerful comrade-in-arms Amit Shah are.

None of it would fructify. You would never make it back to power at the Centre.” 

Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai noted on Sunday that none of the national parties would make it to power in the state except the Dravidian parties.

Responding to the Deputy CM O Panneerselvam’s tweet of bellwethering a grand entry into South India, the AIADMK senior leader went on to defend his party colleague by maintaining that the performance of the BJP has been better off than its previous contest, wherein it settled for 40 seats while it secured as many as 104 seats.

As regards to wrong questions in Tamil papers of UG MBBS NEET, the leader observed that it would take it up against the CBSE if found true.
