The deceased were identified as Rajamani (45) and Krishnamurthy (50). According to police, Palanisamy, a resident of VOC Nagar, had hired the two men to paint his building. After reaching the first floor, Rajamani started measuring the building using a tape. However, the other end of the iron tape which he held touched a high-tension wire running close to the building.

“As Rajamani cried out for help, Krishnamurthy rushed to his rescue and he too suffered an electric shock. Both died on the spot,” police said.
