Two dead, eleven injured in accident in Tiruvannamalai district

The van was returning from Velankanni to Bagayam in Vellore, while the auto was bound for Tiruvannamalai.

The accident resulted in the spot death of Vaishnavi (13), a passenger in the van, and Ravi (52), who was in the other vehicle. On receipt of information, Kalambur police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to the Arni Government Hospital for post-mortem. The injured were shifted to the Polur Government Hospital and the Vellore Government Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Motorists said accidents are common on this stretch, which has been designated as a National Highway. They said there is no median to separate vehicles plying in opposite directions. Kalambur police have registered a case and are investigating the accident.
