Retrieve encroached land from Sastra University, urges DMK
The DMK has urged the ruling AIADMK to immediately retrieve the government land allegedly encroached upon by Sastra University in Thanjavur and initiate stern action against the officials who allowed it.

In a statement, DMK working president MK Stalin wondered why the ruling AIADMK, which demolishes huts and small houses of poor people, was remaining a mute spectator to the private university encroaching upon government land and constructing buildings on the same.
“How was permission granted to construct buildings in encroached government land? Why no action has been initiated against officials who granted the permission? How did the Centre recognise a university which constructed buildings in encroached government land?” Stalin asked, also seeking to know the truth behind reports suggesting that the chief secretary was pressurising the department of land administration not to disturb the land encroached upon by the Sastra University.
Stating that it was not a fair approach on the part of an educational institution to encroach over 30 acres of government land earmarked for open prison for nearly 22 years, Stalin advised the state not to acquiesce to the institution’s offer to give an unusable far off land as an alternative.
