2 cops attacked at temple fest in Trichy
Two policemen were attacked by a gang with sickles after they attempted to intervene and stop a quarrel that broke out during a temple festival held in Musiri near here. All the accused fled the spot after the attack and the cops are undergoing treatment.

Police sources said that on Friday, the Mariamman temple festival was being celebrated in Shivanthi Lingapuram of Musiri block, during which a small quarrel erupted between two groups of people and later aggravated into a brawl.
On receiving information about the incident, a team from Musiri police station rushed to the spot and while the cops attempted to disperse the groups, one of them attempted to slash the other with sickles. Accidentally, two cops Mohan and Umar, got injured.
They were immediately rushed to Musiri GH for treatment. Later, Mohan, who had a head injury, was shifted to a private hospital in Tiruchy.
Sources added that Musiri police has filed a case against the gang and begun a hunt for them.
