Pay anomaly: Teachers to appear before panel
A section of teachers who met School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan earlier this week has decided to represent their pay anomalies with the Committee set up in this regard.
Chennai
The development comes a day after JACTTO-GEO staged a massive stir which rocked the city pressing a charter of demands, including the reinstatement of the old pension scheme and to pay up the arrears for the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission instead of considering it as a notional implementation, among others.
The teachers’ forum general secretary J Robert said the body had gone on a hunger strike in April and it had lasted four days until the intervention of the state.
“We gave up our stir following assurances from the government that our demands to set right the pay anomalies would be considered. The government told us to send all the files relating to the anomalies to the one-man committee which was specifically formed to go into the pay anomalies. As assured, the government has forwarded the files to the Committee and the copies for the acknowledgement were issued to us,” Robert said. “The Committee is scheduled to meet the association representatives and we have also sought time for appearance,” he added.
