Madurai, Nellai TNSTC divisions merged

A Government Order (GO), dated May 11, specifies that directions have been issued to form a committee consisting of Deputy Secretary to Government (Transport department) as chairman and six other members to study the feasibility of the merger.

The Managing Directors of the respective Corporations are directed to complete the merger formalities immediately, the GO stated. While bus operations in Madurai, Virudhunagar, Dindigul and Theni districts come under the control of TNSTC (Madurai) Limited, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari and Thoothukudi comes under the control of TNSTC (Tirunelveli) Limited.

The decision was taken after the Board of Directors and Managing Director, TNSTC (Tirunelveli) Limited, had requested the government to consider proposals to explore the possibility of merger to improve the financial viability.
