Protests would intensify, warns CPM leader
Claiming that there won’t be a fruitful verdict on the Cauvery issue on May 14, CPM state secretary K Balakrishnan, who criticised the BJP-led Centre as having no interest regarding the development of Tamil Nadu, said political parties would meet on May 15 and plan for intensifying the protest for the river water across the state.

Speaking to the media, Balakrishnan said the incumbent state government has failed to pressure the Centre on the Cauvery issue as was done by the regime led by late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
If the state goes soft, it would lose its rights at all levels, he cautioned.
Contending that the Supreme Court was being reportedly directed by the Centre, he claimed that people have begun to lose faith in the credibility of the court. He slammed the state government which has been losing all its rights in the name of smooth relations with the Centre. This proximity should bring about a favourable result for the state, otherwise the state government will lose its credibility among the people, he said.
“We are waiting for a favourable verdict on May 14. Otherwise, all political parties would sit together and plan to intensify the protests,” he added.
