TTV meets Sasikala in prison after family feud with uncle

Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran met his aunt VK Sasikala at Bengaluru prison on Monday for the first time after the open feud with uncle Dhivakaran. It is seen as an indication to the 18 MLAs and other functionaries that the RK Nagar MLA has the backing of his aunt.

The meeting comes after the open statement of Dhivakaran’s son Jeyanand that they had asked the legislators and ministers who are supporting them to back Edappadi K Palaniswami’s government, since Sasikala had obtained a promise from all of them to support Palaniswami regime.

Dhivakaran’s statements and interviews in support of the AIADMK government had raised the likelihood of a few legislators with Dhinakaran going back to the parent organisation after winning the case against disqualification.

With Jeyanand’s views that they are acting according to the instructions of Sasikala causing confusion among the family’s supporters, the meeting of Dhinakaran is seen as an exercise to show that he had the support of Sasikala. Dhivakaran had not met his sister for a long time indicating a rift between them.

It is not known if Sasikala had given any written proof to Dhinakaran to show that she is supporting his nephew and not his younger brother, who is openly praising Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.

However, one of Dhinakaran’s supporters said there is no need for such a proof as the legislators are aware that Dhinakaran had the blessings of Sasikala.

“The legislators are not doubtful about Sasikala’s support and all of them are attending the functions and protests of the AMMK,” he said.
