Exclude Devendra Kula Velallar from SC list, says PT

All the seven sub-sects of Pallar, Kudumbar, Pannadi, Kaalaadi, Kadayar, Devendrakulathor and Vadhiriyaar be named as Devendra Kula Velallars and removed from the SC list. We are the native wet land farmers and belong to the royal clan. Henceforth, we also proclaim, not to address or call Devendra Kula Velallars as Dalits. We are not Dalits and want to come out of the SC list and be added to the OBC list. The debate about special status and reservation for the community could be had later, the resolution said. 

Later, talking to reporters, Puthiya Tamilagam party president Dr K Krishnaswamy, who organised the conference, said during the British rule, the Devendra Kula Velallar community were seen as marginalised and poor and hence the community was included in the SC list.
