Robbers attack pregnant woman at Tiruvannamalai
Four youngsters on two bikes attacked and robbed a pregnant woman of her nine-sovereign chain at knifepoint on Friday.

Police said that Jayanthi (25), wife of Pachayappan, a weaver of Vembakkam near Cheyyar, had gone with her brother to attend a function. They were returning home when the incident took place. Four men on two bikes overtook them and blocked their two-wheeler. Then they threatened Jayanthi and her brother Kannaiyiram to hand over their valuables.Â
When Jayanthi, who is full term pregnant, refused part with her jewels, they punched her on the face, breaking her teeth. Then, they snatched her gold chain. Â
On hearing her screams, passersby rushed to her assistance. Seeing the gathering crowd, they ran away from the spot, leaving their vehicles behind. Police have filed a case and launched a hunt for the culprits.
