The actor also mooted the idea of incentivising students who strive for afforestation. Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat, the actor said he wanted to take this initiative forward along with the government.
Summer is here. Mercury levels will soar further in the coming days. The monsoons too have become so erratic. The only solution for these climatological woes would be the afforestation drive.
“I have requested the government to add topics such as the trees, uses of trees, the effects of global warming and how the trees can reduce the impact of global warming, in the syllabi of school children. This would invariably increase the awareness among the student community,” he said.
He also proposed the state to encourage every student to raise a tree and provide them a certificate of appreciation the way the students raise it. Vivekh, who has prepared a memorandum in this regard wanted to present it to School Education Minster KA Sengottaiyan. He could not do so since the Minister was chairing a high-level meeting of his department. As per the advice, the actor presented the petition to Commercial Taxes Minister KC Veeramani.
The actor later took to twitter and tweeted: “I thank Hon Min. Veeramani n Hon. Min. Senkottaian for receiving my request. Promised to peruse it” (sic).
