Pondy woman kills daughter, self

Police said Suchitra was deserted by her husband and is living with her daughter Nivethitha. She was working as a receptionist at a private hotel. However, she lost her job. Unable to pull on life, Suchitra gave over doze of sleeping pills to Nivethitha and killed her. She later hanged herself after consuming sleeping pills in their house. Muthialpet police reached the spot, seized the bodies and sent them for post-mortem. A case has been registered. 

A woman and her two-year-old daughter were killed on the spot and six persons injured when two cars collided at Mettupalayam in the district, police said. The occupants of both cars were returning after visiting different temples when the mishap occurred.
