Periyar dam water for Madurai: Raju
A drinking water project worth Rs 1,200 crore to bring water from Periyar dam to Madurai have been designed and once it is completed Madurai will not face water shortage for the next 50 years, said state Minister for Cooperation Sellur Raju in Madurai on Sunday.

Sellur Raju inaugurated a new bus service from Palanganatham to Mattuthavani bus stand in Madurai. When asked about the recent judgment by the reporters in the 11 MLAs case, he replied that even CM Edappadi K Palaniswami had welcomed the verdict and he has no personal opinion on it.Â
Talking on the problem of increasing water shortage throughout Madurai city, he replied that steps have been taken to provide water in the areas where shortage is being reported.
