AMMK functionary hacked in Ramanathapuram
A functionary attached to Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) and a supporter of TTV Dhinakaran was hacked by an unknown person when he went for walking in the morning in Ramanathapuram on Wednesday.

The injured identified as Thavamuniyasamy, former councilor and Ramanathapuram district secretary of AMMK traders wing, had gone for walking in the morning around the footpath of Chidambaram Pillai oorani in Ramanathapuram. An unidentified person, who came from behind, hacked him in his head and chest.Â
In the incident, Thavamuniyasamy went down. Thinking that he had died the person had escaped from the spot. However, Thavamuniyasamy was rescued and was rushed to Ramanathapuram GH where he was declared safe. Following that police carried out investigation at the spot about the identity of the accused.Â
In the meantime, the kin of Thavamuniyasamy and cadres of AMMK staged road roko in front of Ramanthapuram GH saying that the attack was staged by state IT Minister M Manikandan and his men and demanded immediate action against the Minister.Â
However, Ramanathapuram SP, Om Prakash Meena, held talks with the protesters and promised action against the accused.Â
Banners defaced in Nellai
Three banners kept by the supporters of TTV Dhinakaran, deputy general secretary of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) were defaced by miscreants in Tirunelveli on Wednesday.Â
The Mahakumbabishegam of Nellaiappar Temple would be conducted on April 27 and for the event various parties have put up flex banners across Tirunelveli and in the streets surrounding the temple. Under the circumstance, three banners kept near Schaffer Higher Secondary School, Tirunelveli, Tirunelveli Corporation office and near Taluk office were defaced by miscreants. The incident had created uproar among the AMMK functionaries and following that a complaint was launched.Â
Police sources said that in the Cooperative elections there was enmity between the AIADMK and the AMMK men and so the AIADMK cadre would have defaced the banners.
