Chennai
Several women teachers along with their kids assembled at the Rajarathinam stadium in Egmore early morning and staged a protest. They raised slogans against the government for not solving their grievance.
The protesters said the newly-appointed teachers get only Rs 8,000 per month as against Rs 11,000, which was fixed earlier for them. They also demanded the implementation of the latest pay commission recommendations, which will bring in wage parity.
Education department sources here said authorities are expected to talk with the protesters soon. Meanwhile, police sources said two women teachers, who fainted during the protest, were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
