Chennai
The meeting was attended by Industries Minister MC Sampath and Special Officer (GIM 2019) V Arun Roy and other senior bureaucrats.
The Industries Minister, who had already been on a visit to Japan, is likely to visit more countries to lure investments for the second edition. Sources said the probable partner countries and its industries were brought up for discussion. The state is planning to give thrust to East Asian countries and the Minister’s ensuing global industrial tour would also be focussed on such countries. The CM also took stock of the investments promised during the first edition of GIM and as well as the proposed outlay of investments. It may be recalled the state came under fire during the recent Budget session and the previous session by the Opposition which was insisting a white paper on the investments brought to the state as against the claims.
In separate meetings, the CM reviewed the performance of Cooperatives department and Food and Consumer Protection departments. Ministers Sellur K Raju and R Kamaraj were present during the said review meetings. Sources said the Cooperative department has been provided an outlay of Rs 8,000 crore for loans while the state has earmarked nearly Rs 6,000 core towards food subsidy.
Meanwhile, the CM has announced a solatium of Rs 20 lakh to kin of havildar R Selvakumar of Madras Regiment, hailing from Tirunelveli, who died in a mishap in Arunachal Pradesh.Â
