In the blaze at Karaikudi, a wood depot and a house nearby were destroyed completely as the fire that started from the wood depot spread inside and also to the neighbouring house.
In the incident, property worth several lakhs in the wood depot and also in the house were damaged.
A bike stationed in front of the house was also damaged. In the police investigation, it was found that the wood depot at Meenatchipuram in Karaikudi was owned by a person called Shahul and on Sunday, he was not in town.
As the blaze occurred in Shahul’s absence, it might have caused by shorting of a power circuit, said sources.
Similarly, in another fire incident, a chicken farm in Vedasandur was completely destroyed. According to police, the chicken farm was owned by a person called Muthusamy, and the fire could have been caused due to the same reason as in the other incident. The fire spread to all parts of the farm killing all the chicken destroying the farm.
In the incident, property worth several lakhs was destroyed. Karaikudi Police have booked a case and are investigating the incident.
