CMB: Ryots to live along rail tracks from May 1
Office bearers of the Coordination Committee of the All Farmers Associations, who met to discuss the next course of action for Cauvery Management Board, said that apart from bike rally across delta districts, they have planned to shift themselves along with their cattle closer to railway tracks and continue to live there while preventing the movement of trains bound for other states from May 1.

Speaking to the media, president of the Coordination Committee of the All Farmers Associations P R Pandian said, since the central government is not interested in forming the Cauvery Management board for the welfare of the Tamil Nadu delta farmers despite a series of protests, the farmers fed up with the comments of BJP leaders like H Raja, plan to hold a bike rally from Vedaranyam on April 25.
After proceeding through various districts, including Chennai, Erode, Karur, Tiruchy and other delta districts, the bike rally is expected to conclude by April 29 at Tiruvarur.
A meeting would be organised in Tiruvarur in which several political leaders would take part, he said.
Meanwhile, the farmer leaders said that if the Centre if fails to establish the Cauvery Management Board by May 1, the farmers’ associations would stage rail blockade protests in the Central station, Chennai, to prevent the operation of the trains to other states.
“We will continue to live along the tracks with our cattle from May 1 and will do so until the Centre fulfils our demand,” Pandian said.
He also requested those people who have booked tickets in trains during May 1–3 to make other arrangements.
