None behind prof scandal will be spared, says Sunil Paliwal
Those behind the infamous assistant professor Nirmala Devi scandal will not be spared, said Sunil Paliwal, Secretary to the Department of Higher Education, here on Friday.
Coimbatore
Paliwal said whoever was behind the alleged of luring college girls will be punished. “The issue came to our knowledge only last week. Immediately, the police was directed to register a case and conduct a probe.
The inquiry commission led by R Santhanam will probe the issue thoroughly,” he said. Pointing out that there were shortcomings in the education sector, Paliwal said a committee comprising the Vice Chancellor of Madras University and Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) has been formed to probe similar complaints of corruption and sexual harassment. “As per UGC norms, they will submit a report on Monday.
The recommendations by the committee will be sent for implementing to all colleges and universities,” he said. On Opposition charges that the higher education sector has gone worse, the secretary said, “Yes, there are some black sheep maligning the education sector.
Efforts will be taken to set right those issues,” he said.
Refuting allegations that ineligible candidates were being chosen as vice chancellors, he said vice chancellors for Anna University and other universities were appointed in a fair manner.
