Raja’s talk, Governor issue bid to divert focus from CMB: Stalin
DMK working president MK Stalin on Thursday said the Nirmala Devi case was being raked up to divert public attention from the issue of Cauvery Management Board (CMB).

“Such a doubt exists. I think H Raja’s obscene post and the Governor’s behaviour were orchestrated to divert public attention from the issue of constituting the CMB,” Stalin said.
Reiterating that only a High Court-monitored CBI probe would bring out the truth in the Nirmala Devi case, he said the one-man commission appointed by the Governor would not do justice. “It is amusing to note that the person involved in it has ordered the probe. A High Court-monitored CBI probe should be conducted to get justice.”
Asked about the Madras High Court pulling up the state on the issue of women’s safety, Stalin described the Nirmala Devi case as a shame to Tamil Nadu and said the state government hurriedly changed the ADGP of CB-CID two days after transferring the case to the agency.
“Reports reaching us suggest that the officer shunted out of CB-CID is an honest and competent unit capable of unravelling the truth in the case. The government has attempted to let those involved off the hook and prevent the truth from being unravelled,” Stalin said, wondering if such a government would care about maintaining law and order or women’s safety.
