Man kills dad after row over cash for liquor
The Tiruppattur police have arrested a 36-year-old engineering graduate on for on the charge of murdering his father for refusing to give money to buy liquor on Sunday.

The victim, Manoharan, was a retired RPF officer and the accused, Rajkumar, his son, was unemployed. Police said Rajkumar became addicted to alcohol and drugs after he separated from his wife. He had quit his job and was living with his father since then. On Saturday, Rajkumar put on his father’s old uniform and demanded money from motorists in Tirupattur.Â
On information from residents about Rajkumar’sbehaviour, local police convinced him and sent home. Once back home, Rajkumardemanded Manoharan to give money for liquor. When he refused, Rajkumar attacked him with a rod and reportedly killed him on the spot.Â
On information from neighbours, police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it for postmortem. Subsequently, Rajkumar was arrested.Â
At the police station, Rajkumar created a ruckus by demanding non-vegetarian food. When police inquired with his family members, they said he was behaving rude in an attempt to escape imprisonment. Police then interrogated Rajkumar and he confessed to the crime.
