The outrage against the Centre for sitting on the orders of Supreme Court on forming the CMB and approaching the apex court seeking clarification post-deadline has prompted a spate of protests in the state and the one showing black flags in condemnation from the street spilled over to the social media.

In a tweet, DMK working president MK Stalin wanted the PM to wake up and withdraw the Centre’s clarification petition from the SC on Cauvery issue. “If not, black fire cannot be put off.

#GoBackModi,” he wrote. RS Nilakantan, a data scientist, took to twitter, explaining the intensity of the outrage with facts through a thread of tweets, said, “Modi is possibly the first PM who’s openly antagonistic to Tamil interests.”

For a tweet, he listed forcing NEET, punishing state through 15th Finance Commission’s Terms of Reference (ToR), thrusting UDAY scheme, derailing the state’s great history in mid-day meals with the ironically named National Food Security Act, the lack of will to form the CMB, Hindi imposition and the GST that impedes fiscal autonomy, to make his point on the Tamils’ outrage against the Modi government.

The timelines were flooded with memes on Modi’s visit tied to a string of slapstick moments mostly played by Vadivelu. To counter views that it was bot trended, a twitteratti who goes by the handle @ NicheBrain posted a card with statistics relating to the hashtag and it revealed that the hashtag peaked by noon.

BJP supporters, who downplayed the trending, posted an old video of late Thuqlak editor Cho Ramaswamy, who was seen saying that Modi will definitely go back there isn’t any ‘Go Back Modi’ protests.
