Amrutha’s plea of being Jaya’s daughter adjourned

Even as the State has rubbished the claims of S Amrutha, of Bengaluru, that she was the biological daughter of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, the Madras High Court has adjourned the case to April 19 for further hearing.

When the plea moved by Amrutha came up for hearing before Justice S Vaidyanathan on Friday, more time was sought from the Government as the Advocate General Vijay Narayan was set to continue arguments in the case. Based on this, the judge on directing the government to file a counter posted the case to April 19 for further hearing.

Amrutha had moved a plea seeking for a direction to the government to exhume Jayalalithaa’s body, and permit her family members to cremate it in accordance with the customs of the Iyengar community.

However, during the earlier arguments in the case, it was submitted that Amrutha was indulging in a public stunt with the sole aim of damaging the reputation of the former Chief Minister by making a self-serving statement that she is her daughter while not even an iota of evidence has been provided to prove her claim.
