Rajini, Kamal to come together at Nadigar Sangam protest
While the fans of both the actor-turned-politicians Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have been sparring on social media, both the stars are expected to attend the Nadigar Sangam protest called over various issues on Sunday.
Chennai
After Kamal Haasan’s tweet branding his political contemporary and friend Rajinikanth a Kannadiga, fans of both actor-turned-politicians started exchanging heated arguments. The MNM president may not have meant any disrespect, but several Rajinikanth fans and members of his Mandram have taken it as a personal attack on their leader – terming him an outsider of sorts.
“Kamal Haasan can try all he can to slyly insinuate that Rajinikanth is originally from Karnataka, but Thalaivar has more than proven over several decades that he is one of our own. This is such an unnecessary comment to make, especially after stating that both decided not to indulge in abuse politics against one another,” posted C Ramthilak from Coimbatore, a Rajinikanth fan.
However, both the stars confirmed their participation in the Nadigar Sangam protest at 9 am. The protest, which is to support the Cauvery Water Management Board and Sterlite issues, will happen at Valluvar Kottam. Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan will be joined by other top actors such as Vijay, Ajith, Sivakarthikeyan, Vikram, Nayantara, Trisha and many others who have all been invited to attend the protest by the Nadigar Sangam.
Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are expected to exhibit a show of solidarity and friendship with each other on the occasion. This is to ensure that their fans understand the duo is sticking to their earlier decision of not compromising their dignity, during their secret meeting last year.
